Summer! The season where everyone is jolly, the sun is shining and there are so many fantastic activities to be had. Actually the options of amazing things to do is endless! Want a hand planning your trip? Here’s some ideas to put into your itinerary.
Go on a wine tour: There are plenty of wine tours on offer in our amazing wine region. Margaret River Tours is the first winery tour to start up in Margaret River, so they really know their stuff. They do a full day tour, a half day tour or the option for a private tour. A great way to take advantage of tasting all the wine, without the hassle of driving.
Sunset picnic: What better way to end the day then to watch the sun go down over the ocean. You really can’tbeat a Margaret River sunset. Mainbreak is one base that is very popular, the sun is directly in the middle, there is a grassy area to enjoy some bubbles and a picnic, and often have food vans with some delicious food on offer.
Fishing: With the weather being oh so fine, why not try your hand at fishing! Whether your a keen fisherman, or just a beginner it makes a very fun day. Ask our friendly staff for all the great spots to catch your dinner.
Night markets: The Friday night markets located at memorial park are starting up again on the 15/12, and then once again each month until April. This is a great night to get out and try some fabulous worldly food.
$10 pizza at colonial brewery: A big part of Margaret River is food, wine and beer. A perfect way to combine them is to head to Colonial brewery. Every Friday night they have a $10 pizza special on all their wood fired pizzas. A great way to kick off the weekend!
Go canoeing, stand up paddle boarding or take a surfing lesson: Josh Palmateer surf school is located down at the Rivermouth – where the Margaret River meets the ocean. There you can hire a canoe and explore the Margaret River, hire a stand up paddle board, or take on a surfing lesson and ride the waves like a pro!
See the stingrays: Not only is Hamelin Bay a beautiful beach in itself, but go at the right time and you will have the pleasure of seeing the magnificent stingrays. They are very tame and will come right up to you. The nature drive if you go via Caves Rd is an adventure in itself. On your way you will pass through the stunning Boranup Forest. Why not check out a cave on the way and a winery on the way?
Farmers market: The farmers market is held every Saturday from 8am – 12pm and has a wonderful range of locally grown and sourced gourmet goodies. A great way to stock up and start your weekend!
